Cal. 42. NSN. Bbl. 35 1/4" oct. w/ rifled bore measuring 15/16" across flats at muzzle. German silver blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. Unmarked lock & hammer. Dbl. set triggers. Wedge fastened half length walnut stock w/ pewter forearm tip. Brass oval lid patch box, steel crescent buttplate, toe plate & trigger guard. German silver wedge escutcheons & lollipop sight escutcheon on top of wrist, sight is not present. Artificially striped hardwood ramrod held on iron under rib by 2 plain iron pipes. WEIGHT: 8 lbs., 10 oz. American Gunsmiths" by Frank M Sellers lists Henry, J. & Sons, Bolton, Pennsylvania 1830-1836, 1860-1894 as a lg. quantity builder of half stock rifles. CONDITION: bbl. is cleaned showing mottled gray brown appearance. Lockplate, hammer & trigger guard have cold blued finish. Sanded & refinished stock w/ cracks behind top tang & forward of lock. Functioning action & trigger. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-19357/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
