RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. S# 6029. Bbl. 30" round w/ Rigby flats at breech end. Wind gauge globe front sight w/ mid range Vernier peep rear sight. Receiver has rebated upper frame walls w/ faceted ends on the half-octagon ring. Plain trigger. Sides of action have uncommon engraving w/ oval vignettes featuring a running moose on the right side w/ bull & cow elf on the left. Balance of receiver sides have vine type foliate scroll engraving w/ punch dot backgrounds, double line borders & engraved highlights. Upper octagon receiver area along w/ Rigby flats at breech end of bbl. & muzzle of bbl. have complimentary scroll engraving. Top Rigby flat has a Ballard marked banner wrapped around an arrow. Ebony tipped schnable forearm & cheekpiece stock of fancy walnut w/ ebony tipped S curved pistol grip. Stock features brass Swiss style Scheutzen buttplate & point pattern hand checkering. WEIGHT: 10 lbs, 1.2 oz. CONDITION: action finish has faded to a mild even gray retaining faint traces of case colors in protected areas. Bbl. is professionally reblued. Relined bore retains strong rifling. Wood finish shows light wear & handling marks. (01-25730/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-8,000.
