O/U GUN. Cal. 41 over 14 Ga. NSN. J. Ogden appears to be Jehiel Ogden, older brother of Walter & Charles Ogden that operated 1849-1870 out of Owego, NY. B Losey half oct., half rnd. 32.5" bbls. Side ribs hold hardwood ramrods with 2 pipes & bases. German silver blade front sight & elevator rear sight; missing elevator. This gun features detailed floral scroll engraving throughout including hammers, top tang, triggerguard bow, toeplate, & peak of crescent buttplate. Pheasant scene engraving on lock plates. German silver circular patch box has detailed floral & punch dot geometric engraving. Top tang has hole for sight. Walnut buttstock w/ checkered wrist & German silver on cheekpiece. CONDITION: barrels have brown/gray appearance with marks & cleaned pitting. Spliced wood repair to top of left side wrist. Wood shows heavy varnish with scattered sm. dings & sm. chips throughout. Strong rifling with some shine in top bore & shiny bore with scattered oxidation to bottom bore. Right lock unable to hold at full cock, left hammer mechanically fine. (01-28296/MD).
