SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 9.3x62. S# 5377c (S# on barrel 3906). This rifle was built on the a Spandau military 98 action with 1911 date & partially obscured S# "5377c". Half rnd., half oct. 26" barrel with rib. Bead front sight & 2 leaf rear sight. Bottom of barrel has May 1929 German Nitro proofs along with "Merco" marking. Military control feed action with replacement bolt handle having knurled round knob. Triggerguard bow is engrave "15717". Floorplate has lever latch fastening & release; assembly uses military screws. Single trigger. Walnut checkered sporter stock that appears to a replacement with ebony forearm tip, ebony grip cap, Bavarian cheekpiece, & black pad. CONDITION: good blue with action refinished to match the barrel with area of touch up finish applied on right barrel flat along with scattered spots of oxidation. Floorplate assembly has traces of blue with balance fading to gray/brown patina from carry wear. Wood has very good finish overall with light handling marks throughout & glue repaired chip behind top tang. Bolt has case colors from heat. Bore shows good strong rifling with wear to rifling & throat. (25-550/MD). MODERN. $1,200-1,600.
