Cal. 22 S or LR. S# 31013. Bbl. 24" part rnd. / part oct. having matching serial number. Mfg. late 1870's w/ plated brass frames changing to plated iron (this rifle) until ending in 1895. Made in variety of calibers from RF to CF plus shotguns. Three frame sizes for rifles, lady's rifles & shotguns. Various grades of wood & sometimes w/ forends. Most trigger guards simulated a pistol grip on lower tang, but some were flat. Most had Swiss style buttplates; some shotgun / rifle style. Scope appears to be No. 1 Offhand Model w/ corresponding Offhand mount set. CONDITION: good overall appearance having flaking nickel, some fading finish plus pinprick to peppery oxidation. Bbl has been recrowned to brief beveled target style w/ surrounding area polished. Scope has cleaned spotty patina appearance w/ somewhat cloudy, yet useable image. Indexing feature not working to keep scope vertical / horizontal in mount. Very slight bend to scope tube. Good plus appearing stock set w/ repair to left top front of forend. Good bore w/ wear & even very faint pitting or frosting. (01-21364/NW). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
