Lockplate, cock and frizzen show some well cut scroll engraving. Trigger is not set. Full length stock made of very fine curly maple is brass mounted and has some inlaid silver decoration. Buttplate with faceted top has button release for patchbox cover. Patchbox itself has many piercing with sideplates and finial in scrolled form. Trigger guard with chamfered bow has finger spur. Silver inlays are present behind lockplate at top of grip, behind sideplate and with large oval inlay above cheekpiece engraved with a heraldic American eagle. Other furniture is nicely scroll engraved. Well executed raised carved foliate scrolls are behind barrel tang and on sides of butt. Raised mouldings are around lockplate, sideplate and along ramrod channel. Plain hickory ramrod mounts through two beaded and faceted pipes and matching thimble. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Very close to "As New"; appears unfired with only one or two flint strikes on frizzen. Bores bright, sharp and shiny throughout. Lock is crisp. A very handsome handmade rifle by one of the best.
