MARKINGS. Rare, seldom offered clam shell holster for Baby Nambu. References state less than 30 known to exist in private collections. Careful examination of holster details leads to conclusion of originality. Dbl. shoulder strap loops on back plus 1 1/8" wide belt loop. Interior w/ provision for cleaning rod plus stacked leather making spacers to support pistol. Gentle slope formed section on edge of holster to clear bbl. sight. Front pouch w/ brass stud & flap sealing ammo pouch containing 2 rows of cartridge loops; set of 8 at top & set of 6 at bottom. Latch strap has keyhole like brass front w/ 4 rivets going into more roughly shaped copper back. Japanese characters under flap that were translated to “Field Artillery 7-5”. Exceptional example that has not been cleaned, altered or oiled. Rare opportunity for wonderful appearing example. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
