Cal. 7mm Nambu. S# 2579. Bbl. 83mm. Approx. 6,500 (mfg. 1903-1929) 7mm Nambu type pistols referred to as “Baby” by collectors. First grouping mfg. 1903-1923 by Tokyo Koshikawa Arsenal w/in S# range 1-5899. Later production by Tokyo Gas Electric 1923-1929 numbered 5900-6450. Border checkered walnut grips matching numbered to pistol. Cocking piece & bolt matching numbered. Intertwined circles of manufacturer over chamber. Right rear of slide has 3 Japanese characters reading “Nambu Type”. MAGS: 1 near excellent matching numbered 7 rd. w/ aluminum base having checkered dimples; light marks on very bottom of base. CONDITION: very good to excellent overall appearance w/ near excellent bore. Bolt face & chamber have an appearance of being unfired. Small area of faint pitting above Japanese characters on receiver. Function wear on grip safety; bottom of left side & 2 points of right side. Stained appearance on right side of bolt when retracted & very faint hint of staining on top right of bolt at port. Very fine pinprick to peppery oxidation on recoil spring tube; mostly front half. Peppery oxidation in grip area; more pronounced on backstrap. Faded straw colors on trigger w/ staining towards right side. Occasional spot of pinprick oxidation on other areas. Couple of diamond top marks on left grip & 2 extremely sm. chips at very top. Right grip near excellent. (20-1956/NW). CURIO. $4,000-6,000.
