Overall length: 40”. Blade length: 28 7/8”. The blade has an irregular hamon with a gilded habaki featuring diagonal serrations. There is one seppa above and below the brass tsuba. The tsuba appears to have had silver plating at one time. It is decorated with koi, pine boughs, and branches. It also features a signature under the seppa. The nakago has three mekugi-ana, indicating use of an ancestral blade, possibly from the 16th century. The nakago features a 7-character signature on one side that appears to be Hisamitsu, a 5th generation Bizen smith. The tsuka has matching gold and silver highlighted black fuchi and kashira. The elaborate menuki match the decoration on the rest of the tsuka. Lightly faded black tsuka-ito is wrapped around white same. Black lacquered saya with a blue cord attached. CONDITION: blade has a fine polish with a few scattered metal flaws, primarily near the tip. The tsuka shows light wear overall, as does the saya. (02-21149/BF). $1,500-2,250.
