Cal. 50. NSN. Consignor states circa 19th century construction. Tapered oct. 40 1/2" bbl. w/ raised bead & groove sights. Top of bbl. has light engraving that includes Japanese dragon, 3 unrecognizable characters, a fireball, a cloud of smoke & other unusual motif behind rear sight. Brass matchlock action decorated w/ 3 cherry blossoms. Pan has brass cover. 2 Piece hardwood pinned forearm w/ ramrod & 8 cherry blossom pin escutcheons Hardwood butt w/ brass stud trigger, 3 brass cherry blossom pin escutcheons & brass fan shaped plate on butt. WEIGHT: 6.4 lbs. CONDITION: Bbl. has black/brown corroded patina appearance still showing engraving w/ light marks. Forearm missing large piece on bottom that extends 6" from tip. Wood has fair varnish appearance w/ considerable wear & marks around butt. Brass has acquired a mustard patina w/ scratches & marks. Action appears to function w/ little spring tension.
