Cal. about 72. NSN. Bbl. 28 7/8" oct. w/ cannonade muzzle having a blade front sight & square groove rear sight. Unmarked island lock. Lever style trigger. Hardwood ramrod. Pin fastened full length hardwood stock that retains the style of the traditional matchlock Tanegashima. Marks on left side refer to "Myodou-Ken", a state or area of the country that existed for a short time after 1871 when the country was divided as part of the Meiji Restoration, which effectively ended the Age of the Samurai. The percussion ignition system was introduced to the country by Commodore Perry in 1854. Percussion weapons replaced the matchlock during the early modernization of the Japanese military. Overall length: 41 1/8". WEIGHT: 12 lbs., 5 oz. CONDITION: metal has dark corroded appearance showing surface rust. Stock has very well preserved finish w/ crisp markings.
