Overall length: 40 1/2". Blade length: 27". Blade has a wavy hamon. Brass habaki. Classic gilded brass tsuba w/ 4 cherry blossoms on each side. There are 2 narrow seppa & 1 thick seppa above & below the tsuba. Nakago has a single mekugi-ano that is larger than normally seen. There is an 8 character signature on 1 side of the nakago & a white painted 3 character signature on the other. Matching fuchi & kabuto-gane. Dull green tsuka ito w/ white same & 2 gilded brass 3 cherry blossom menuki. Military style saya has a dark brown finished body w/ gilt highlighted brass mounts. CONDITION: blade has scattered darkened areas w/ a few tiny, shallow chips near the tip. There are no delaminations noted. Brass patina covers the tsuba & habaki. Tsuka shows moderate wear w/ patina on the fuchi & kabuto-gane. Menuki have significant vertegris. Saya has minor paint losses & does not hold the spring retention clip from the fuchi. There is minor loss at the base of the same. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (02-17414/BF). $500-800.
