Overall length: 38". Blade length 27 1/4". An early katana possibly made by Sadanori of the Bizen province in 1532. Good light blade with an imperceptible hamon and a bohi that extends into the nakago. Copper habaki with diagonal striations. There are 2 seppa above and below the classic 4 cherry blossom brass tsuba. The nakago has 2 mekugi-ana with the remains of a 3rd at the tip of the nakago along with 2 characters, of a longer signature, remaining. Matching fuchi and kabuto-gane with copper 3 cherry blossom menuki. White same with light brown tsuka-ito. Nickle plated metal saya with a paper tag attached that reads " Made by SADANORI in 1532 BIZEN Province -- Japan". partial tassel attached for a field grade officer. CONDITION: blade shows some staining and light pitting. Tsuba, tsuka and saya show light wear overall. (02-23834-2/BF). $600-1000.
