Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 12070. Bbl. 19". Early Tokyo arsenal mfg. example w/ first type bayonet housing. Ground mum. Rear sight & bayonet housing have matching assembly numbers but other parts are mismatched w/ ground off bolt number. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted V-front sight w/ protective ears. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Stacking hook on front end & 13" spike bayonet. Hardwood stock w/ 2 piece buttstock construction. Trap buttplate. Left side mounted sling swivels w/ leather sling. CONDITION: stock is worn but retains much original finish w/ scattered dents, a few gouges, dings, handling marks & scratches. Metal is mostly gray w/ scattered oxidation & traces of original blue. Worn bore w/ scattered oxidation & pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (22-795/MJC). CURIO. $300-600.
