Overall length: 34”. Blade length: 22”. A shin-gunto wakizachi with a straight, barely perceptible hamon and a copper habaki. Nakago cannot be viewed, as the tsuka-ito covers the entire tsuka. There is one seppa on either side of the gilded brass tsuba featuring four cherry blossoms on each side. Matching fuchi and kabuto-gane with no sarute. No same, and the rewrapped tsuka uses dark brown shoelaces. Gilded 3-cherry blossom menuki are present on each side. Wood-lined iron saya with matching koiguchi, semegane, & ishizuke. Saya body has been repainted black. CONDITION: blade has a good polish with a single nick in the edge. Rewrapped tsuka shows light wear. Saya shows moderate wear and the body may not be of Japanese manufacture. (02-21237/BF). $250-400.
