Flemington, N.J. Circa 1810. The bonnet with swan’s neck pediment terminating in turned rosettes centering an urn form finial on a plinth base. The tympanum applied with an engaged mahogany bat on each side. The hinged bonnet door with bookend veneers is flanked by slender colonettes. The narrow 12 1/2" waist with engaged bobbin-turned quarter columns centering a shaped waisted door with oval figural mahogany panel. The base panel is finished with four 1/4 bookend inlays centering an oval figural panel. The base raised on delicate splayed French feet. The painted iron dial with moon phase calendar mechanism in the arch. Each moon face is flanked by a ship at sea and a pastoral farm scene. The main dial with Arabic numerals and hour chapter rings, a subsidiary seconds dial above time and strike apertures and a crescent calendar aperture above the painted name of "Joakim Hill/Flemington". The whole within floral spandrels. The 8-day brass movement with 2 brass plates supported by 4 turned pillars striking on a cast-iron bell. SIZE: 89 1/2" h x 18" w overall x 8 1/2" d. CONDITION: the clock movement appears in working order with pendulum and rod, and only one iron weight. Very good. (02-17842/TG). $2,000-3,500.
