DELUXE BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 300 Wby Mag. S# 43418. Bbl. 24" tapered rnd. without sights. Weatherby 3-9X40mm gloss finished scope with heavy duplex reticle on 2-piece Redfield mounts. 9-locking lug action with cocking indicator and 2-position safety on right side. Grooved single stage trigger. Action, bbl., and bottom metal have custom hand engraving by noted Cape Code, MA engraver John E. Warren. Born in 1904, he was known as one of the best engravers of his time. He specialized in German style scroll. Action and floorplate have nearly 50% coverage of scroll engraving with fancy borders. Complimentary engraving extends to the top tang, bolt handle, as well as the breech and muzzle ends of the bbl. Gold inlays consists of a big horn ram on the floorplate, bears head on the cocking piece, and a gold band at the chamber end of the bbl. Rear of cocking piece is marked "JOHN/ WARREN/ ENG.". Bolt knob has 4 panel hand checkering. California style Monte Carlo cheek piece stock of fancy walnut having dark black streaking. Features include French style skip line hand checkering, rosewood forearm tip and grip cap with contrasting spacers, swivel bases, and original Weatherby pad. Mfg. in West Germany by J.P. Sauer. CONDITION: over 98% bright custom blue. Stock has very good finish showing a few scattered scratches and marks. Bright near excellent bore. Scope has clear optics. (25-3208/DS). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
