SEMI AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 38 Wadcutter. S# 22223. John Giles of Odessa, Florida was a premier gunsmith specializing in Colt pistols from the 1950's to the 1990s. Bbl. 5" w/ reamed chamber to accept 38 Wadcutter enhanced throating & milled section on right side throat for extraction. Colt 38 Super slide has Giles .45 Shop patented grooved rib that extends 1 3/4" past slide w/ Undercut front sight painted red. Giles special rear sight designed w/ multiple adjustments using spring pins & detent notches on circumference of adjustment wheels. Custom slide to frame fit. Breech face has been milled for fit. Bbl. bush has tight fit to slide. 1911 Frame w/ flat mainspring housing having added checkering, extended tang grip safety, grooved slide top & safety tab. Walnut grips w/ left hand thumb rest. MAGS: 3 - 9 rd. mags, 1 Colt 38 Auto converted to 38 Wadcutter & 2 Mec-Gar mags. CONDITION: left side of frame has been polished partially obscuring Government Model marking, having reapplied serial number & cold blue refinish & portions of slide have cold blue refinish; balance of blue very good w/ light finish wear along edges & scratches notable on front grip strap. Grooved trigger has added black paint to sides. Very good grips w/ some flattened diamonds. Very good bore w/ light pitting on bottom portion.
