Cal. 50 rifled bore. NSN. Bbl. 53 3/4" full oct. Overall length 58". Bbl. signed “J.P.”. 4 Piece brass patchbox. Curly maple stock is carved to the rear & forward of cheekpiece, which features a nicely engraved half-moon silver inlay. It has the usual Snyder County style brass 4 1/2" saddle plate. 11 Silver inlays, including the cheekpiece moon inlay. In 1833 John Parks Sr. worked in Center Township, he is also known to have lived briefly in Huntingdon & Clearfield counties. CONDITION: 1" part of tail of brass sideplate is replaced. Otherwise, the rifle seems to be clear & solid throughout. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19591/RG). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
