EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 15775 (1914). The 28" chopper lump barrels with swamped game rib are engraved with maker's name and address on right barrel and importer (Abercrombie & Fitch) on left. The barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with S# and "J.L. & S.". Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, Lang single non selective trigger and detachable sidelocks using Lang's special system whereby rotating a hinged folding tab one quarter turn releases locks. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage traditional rose and scroll. Lockplates are each engraved "Joseph Lang & Son"; lock removal covers "LANGS" "PATENT". Bottom of action is engraved "LANGS" "PATENT" "EJECTOR". Trigger guard with small bow has S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock of smoky marbled European walnut measures 14 5/8" over Silver type pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern grip checkering and a vacant gold oval. It appears that this stock once had a straight grip and a long triangular piece of hard rubber is inlet behind trigger guard tang. Tang is reshaped. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .729". R .729". Restriction: L .034" (full). R .005" (IC). Wall thickness: L .030". R .026". STOCK: DAH: 2 7/16". DAC: 1 5/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 5/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 12 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in its original oak and leather case with brass corners. A large brass rectangle is screwed to top. Case is lined in green cloth and has dark red leather gold embossed Lang Bond Street label in lid, along with charge card for this particular gun by S# listing chamber length as 2 3/4". Case contains cleaning equipment, a pair of Lang marked snap caps and a glass oil bottle. CONDITION: good as partially refinished. Barrels retaining over 90% old reblack. Action and lockplates retain about 40% original case color, strong were protected. Stocks retain nearly all glossy varnish refinish, checkering competently recut. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems, action tight, barrels are on face, ejectors are strong and in time, mechanical trigger works well. Case leather is dark, stained and considerably worn; through leather on back edge, straps and handle are fair to good. Interior cloth is very good to fine. Label is quite good. Charge card heavily foxed and difficult to read. Accessories are fair to good. A high quality gun that measures well. (22-5749/MGM). CURIO. $6,000-8,000.
