Cal. 12 GA. NSN. Bbl. 31 5/8". SxS percussion shotgun mfg. by Joseph Manton & Sons. The sideplates feature scroll engraving and are marked "JOS H MANTON & SONS." The Damascus bbls. feature diamond borders at the breech and is marked "JOSEPH MANTON & SONS, HOLLES STREET, CAVENDISH SQUARE, LONDON." across the rib. Hammers, trigger guard, and forend tip feature matching pattern scroll engraving. One-piece checkered wood straight grip buttstock, with oval escutcheon inlaid on the underside of the butt. Brass bead front sight. One percussion nipple is absent. CONDITION: bbls. retain a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting and surface oxidation, with age-related discoloration present overall. Sideplates and trigger guard exhibit some pitting, with scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Stock shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the right side exhibiting a large section of wood that has broken off at and around the front of the lockplate, with a large crack present at the rear.
