PURDEY TYPE SELF OPENING ACTION AND TWO BARREL SETS. Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4". S# 7239. Bbl. set "2" has 24" chopperlump bbls. that are fitted with matted concave rib with remnants of "2" gold inlaid at rear which matches number on forend tip. Tops are engraved "Jules Bury" "ARQsier" "A LIEGE". Bbl. flats are stamped with 1930 Belgian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Bbl. markings are 18.4mm and chokes are both marked at 18.3mm. Other bbl. set measures 25 1/2", is monobloced and not maker marked on top. Bbl. flats are stamped with Belgian Nitro proofs having date code "e" (1926). This set is fitted with forend with gold inlaid "1" on tip. Coin finished sidelock action is made with Beasley / Purdey type spring cocking and self opening mechanism and also features nonautomatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, small reinforcing bolsters, and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with full coverage even medium size scroll within geometric borders. Fences are engraved with ribbons surrounding rose bouquets. Trigger guard is engraved with scroll. Straight grip buttstock of well marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 15" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Forends retain most of what appears to be their original oil finish. Checkering lightly worn. Bbl. set number 2 shows a bulge in left bbl. 1" behind muzzle and one or two minor dents.
