SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 555. Bbl. 6". First Issue Navy Luger (Navy designation: "P.04") semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM. Left side of the bbl. extension is marked with a single navy crown proof (repeated on the left side of the bbl. and breechblock), followed by 2 navy Crown/M proofs. Underside of bbl. exhibits a later added navy Crown/M proof. Toggle is marked with the intertwined DWM monogram. Left side of the frame exhibits a "GESICHERT" marking in the lower position, which may have been added at a later date. Rear grip strap is Keil Dockyard marked "W.K./ 1694". Metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a matching quality reheated straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard serrated blade front sight, with navy pattern 2-position rear sight, graduated 100 and 200. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock. and toggles, with some parts having possibly been renumbered to match. Grips do not match but match each other via "27". MAGS: 1 8-rd., with concentric circle wood plug that has been renumbered to match. CONDITION: excellent, as professionally refurbished, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their blue finish, showing few spots of light pitting beneath the finish overall. Frame shows some scattered spots of mild pitting under the finish beneath the grip panels. Strawed parts show a few spots of light wear. Bore exhibits consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good overall, showing some light smoothing, with the left panel exhibiting 2 small impressed lines. An attractively restored First Issue DWM Navy Luger. (25-3482/MLW).
