GAME GUN NICELY REFURBISHED. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 15600 (1908). The 27" dovetailed barrels are engraved "Charles Boswell. Maker. 126 Strand. London. W. C." on swamped game rib with dolls head extension. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 3 tons and Birmingham reproofs for 2-3/4" chambers. S#'s are engraved on bottoms of barrels. Case hardened action with back spring side locks have S#, maker's name, London view proofs and Birmingham proofs on watertable. Action also features automatic safely ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), third fastener which engages dolls head rib extension, bushed strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage exceptionally well cut shaded scroll with some small scroll borders which surrounds game scenes. Five feeding partridge are on left lockplate, six pheasant are on right and two grouse are on bottom of action. Fences are relief carved with flowing ribbons. Engraving on fences is in semi-relief. This fine work is in the style of and almost certainly done by the reveered Harry Kell with his signature big-eyed birds. Blued trigger guard and top lever are engraved with matching scroll. A pointing setter is on trigger guard bow; S# is on tang. Attractively marbled and lightly stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-7/8" over thick hand serrated horn buttplate. Stock also features classic drop points, flat top grip checkering and silver oval. Matching splinter Deeley ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .729. R .729. Restriction: L .021 (Mod). R .009 (IC). Wall thickness: L .032. R .034. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/8". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. LOP: 14-7/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 12 oz. CONDITION: very fine as completely refurbished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a best re-blue. Action with over 90% re-color, engraving shows very slight softening. Stocks retain over 90% oil refinish with some scattered marks; checkering re-cut. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight; barrels are on face. Mechanically fine; ejectors are in time.
