Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 40 1/2" oct. rifled. Brass blade front sight. Small u-notch rear sight. Kentucky-style flintlock rifle built with a British lock. Lock has British crown "GR" and "TOWER" markings; there are no other visible markings. The lock is functional when hand-cycled. Hardwood stock with brass furniture. Finger-curl trigger guard, patchbox, and long brass repair ahead of the trigger guard. Replacement hardwood ramrod is secured by a brass thimble and two pipes. CONDITION: stock has added varnish with some cracks and epoxy repairs around the lock. Stock otherwise shows further repaired cracks, scattered dings, and handling wear. Brass parts are turning to a dull yellow mustard patina with oxidation and dings. Balance of the metal is a dark gray patina with varnish overruns, scattered oxidation, dings, and pitting. Bore shows scattered pitting and oxidation but evident rifling. (01-24333/MJC). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
