Cal. 66. NSN. Bbl. 40 1/8". Flintlock fowler or trade musket, likely produced in England. The lockplate is marked "KETLAND / & Co" under the pan. The round barrel features a faceted breech that is marked "LONDON" on the top flat, with "TK" between two British crowned crossed swords on the left quarter flat. The full-length wood stock features a brass buttplate, sideplate, trigger guard, escutcheon plate, entry thimble, and ramrod thimble. Buttplate, sideplate, trigger guard, and escutcheon plate exhibit light foliate & linear engraving. German silver blade front sight with brass square notch rear sight. Improper brass-tipped wooden ramrod displays well. CONDITION: all iron has a dark overall patina. Brass has a pleasing mustard patina. Stock has a small crack between the trigger guard and the rear of the lock. Lock may not be original to this gun but is the correct period and fits reasonably well. Fair bore. (01-25179/BF). $600-900.
