Cal. 7mm Nambu. S# 434. Bbl. 3 1/4" w/ dovetailed inverted V sight. 7mm Nambu type pistols referred to as “Baby” by collectors. Approx. 6,500 mfg. 1903-1929. First grouping mfg. 1903-1923 by Tokyo's Koishikawa Arsenal w/in S# range 1-5899. Later production by Tokyo Gas & Electric 1923-1929 numbered 5900-6450. Matching numbered border checkered walnut grips, bolt & cocking piece. Multi circled Koishikawa symbol over chamber. Right rear of slide has 3 Japanese characters reading “Nambu Type”. MAGS: 1 very good matching numbered 7 rd. w/ aluminum base having checkered dimples; light marks on bottom of base plus body w/ light scratches & slight peppery staining of finish. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance. Concentrated area of pitting on right side of receiver at top edge starting just behind ejection port to bbl.; similar sm. spot on front of spring tube. Peppery oxidation plus very slight high point & function wear on balance of pistol; matte appearing backstrap w/ faint pitting near base. Faded straw colors on trigger w/ gray toned face. Extractor & mag. release w/ no finish plus mottled appearance to right side of release. Stained appearance to bolt w/ slight cleaned pitting on right rear. Good to very good grips w/ moderate hand wear. Poor bore; very worn but bright w/ barely a trace of rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (23-70/NW).
