Cal. 6.5 Jap. (6.5X50). S# 56265. Bbl. 19" w/ stacking hook, protected front sight blade & 13" folding spike bayonet. Mfg. 1912-1932 w/ S# 56827 being highest known of first series; second series at Kokura Arsenal from 1933 to end of WW-II. Wide side mounted sling set, 2,000 meter carbine sight & grasping grooves on forend. Matching numbered bolt. Trapdoor buttplate actuated by release on right side of 2 piece buttstock. CONDITION: good general appearance w/ numerous light to moderate stock marks plus crack on top rear portion of handguard. Bayonet does not latch in closed position but latches properly in open position. No mum or dust cover. Very good sling. Scattered peppery oxidation throughout metal finish having more refined finish than later production models. Good plus bright bore w/ wear. PROVENANCE: from the estate collections of Charles P.
