Cal. 10 Ga. / 44 WCF (44-40). S# 1292. Bbls. 30" with low brass blade at front plus V notch installed within writings of rib. Chokes appear cylinder and light modified. Rib normally seen marked with "Stub Twist" but this one has "Damascus Steel". Mfg. 1880-1884 by Lyman Smith after dissolution of partnership with Baker brothers and before selling his business to Hunter Arms. "Baker Pat." on each side of receiver. Rifle barrel selector at front trigger guard; barrel release performed by pushing front trigger forward. Matching numbers on: each side lock, rifle striker, frame, barrel set, forend and wedge. References list rifle caliber as 44 centerfire; 44 WCF chambers and appears dimensionally correct. CONDITION: fair to good overall with brown toned patina finish. Right firing pin missing return spring. Professional epoxy repair at wrist. Missing screw on right wedge escutcheon plate. Notable chip at heel of buttstock along with numerous handling marks on stock set. Good appearing bright honed shotgun bores retaining numerous light pits; rifle barrel has distinct rifling with frosted appearance. (01-26167/NW). ANTIQUE. $350-500.
