Cal. 10 Ga. 2-7/8". S# 19089 (1887?). Only about 1400 guns of this grade were made in Syracuse. This gun has 32" fine damascus barrels engraved "L.C. MAKER SYRACUSE N.Y." "STEEL DAMASCUS" on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with S# and grade which also appears on watertable. Case hardened sidelock action with rotary bolt is missing safety button and is engraved with splashes of scroll. Maker's name is on each lockplate. Trigger guard bow is engraved with portrait of spaniel retrieving quail. S# is on tang. Pistol grip buttstock of lightly marbled European walnut measures 14-1/4" over L.C. Smith "Trap Gun" buttplate. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend with inlet ebony tip has "J" spring release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .789. R .789. Restriction: L .025 (Mod). R .030 (Mod). Wall thickness: L .038. R .038. STOCK: DAH: 3". DAC: 1-7/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-1/4". WEIGHT: 9 lb. 5 oz. CONDITION: fair to good. Barrels retaining a good amount of original finish with fair definition to pattern. Action and lock plates retain between 30-40% original color. Stocks with old oil refinish. Checkering considerable worn. Buttstock cracked behind lockplates and this crack extends to rear of top strap and flexes slightly. Bores are shiny but somewhat pitted. Action is tight. Top lever retaining screw stripped, right firing pin missing, as is safety button. (01-25851/MGM). ANTIQUE. $500-900.
