Cal. 2 1/2" at the bell. NSN. 45" Overall. Bbl. 30" rnd. swelling to 2". Hardware appears to be that of a 2nd model Brown Bess though so pitted no proofs can be seen. According to accompanying letter, this relic was bought in Montréal in 1941 & may have had Revolutionary War history from that area. Regardless, this is a rarely seen military issue blunderbuss. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: collector notes & letter as noted above. CONDITION: fair, iron is heavily pitted & no markings can be read, brass has dark mixed olive/mustard patina. The stock is sound from the lock back but forward is insect damage & missing wood from swivel forward. Mechanically will still cock, bore is clear w/ heavy pitting. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of John "Tim" Breth Jr. (01-17771/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
