Cal. 40. S# 475. Flayderman shows these well made unmarked saw-handle pistol listed under "Anderson" pistol as once thought to be made in Anderson Texas, (Herschel Logan "Underhammer Guns" 1960) but later scholarship point to Blunt & Syms though no marked specimens have been uncovered and Blunt & Syms almost always used ring triggers. This is about as large an example known, 12" overall; 7" 2-stage octagonal to round barrel, fixed notch rear sight and tiny blade front sight, much larger than any shown in Flayderman or Logan. CONDITION: good to very good overall, metal cleaned, gray/bright with pitting, walnut grips retain most of their original varnish finish. Mechanics fine, crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: James Julia Auction, lot 8, 3-15-2005. (01-28085/JS). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
