BARREL. Cal. 80. S# NSN. The 15-1/2" barrel has fluted rear section marked "LAZARINO COMINAZZO" (This famous barrel maker's mark is often counterfeited.) on top. Barrel transitions to round through two simple bands; round flared muzzle measures 1-3/4". Miquelet lock with external main spring has some decorative filing and engraving. Straight grip stock of plain European walnut is iron mounted. Raised mouldings are around most components except buttplate. Stock extends to muzzle and is reinforced by an iron band. Very early walnut ramrod has small steel button head and is held by multi-beaded pipe and matching thimble. CONDITION: good. Metal cleaned to silver gray. Stock with old finish; has newer oil rubbed in. Bore is good; a bit rusty. Lock is operable but cranky. Trigger guard does not fit inletting well.
