Cal. 30 U.S.G. (30-06). S# 1042 (on bottom of action). Approx. 1,000 produced in New Haven CT starting in 1924. Tapered 24" bbl. Pinned blade front sight & folding leaf rear sight. Barrel markings include: "BUFFALO NEWTON RIFLE CO NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. / 30 U.S.G." & "PATENT'S PENDING". Mauser style action w/ stripper clip guide. Patent magazine spring system & the hinged floorplate system utilized for takedown. Dog leg bolt handle. Checkered walnut schnabel tipped stock w/ steel grip cap, recoil lug & curved steel buttplate. CONDITION: over 50% blue finish with rather weak markings on barrel, peppery oxidation & brown patina throughout. Lightly sanded & refinished wood shows numerous scratches & marks, mildew stains throughout, cracks behind top tang & custom fluting at comb. Bore shows worn rifling & darkness in the grooves.
