RIFLE. Cal.30-06. S# 1467764. Bbl. 24". This rifle, mfg. in 1934, has an "S" stock and a WWII replacement barrel marked behind front sight "U.S.M.C. 9-43" and an encircled "S." These barrels were made by Sedgley for Marine Corps use as field replacements. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards w/o volley notch. Blade front sight with unmarked sight cover. Replacement "BF"-marked bolt. Extractor has a gas escape hole. Receiver does not have a "Hatcher hole" but is drilled and tapped for Lyman 48 receiver sight, which is not present. All milled furniture. Trap buttplate with deep checkering. "C"-type walnut stock and handguard marked "S" in cut-off recess. Brown leather Model 1907 sling markings are not legible. UNNATTCHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: lightly worn original finish stock set with scattered handling marks. Metal retains 75% of its fading blue finish with light wear. Very good, shiny bore with sharp lands. (24-3853/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
