Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 4649l. Bbl. 22". Blade front sight without hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1200m. Mismatched bolt assembly. No dust cover present. Late war Berliner Lubecker made K43 semi auto rifle. Left side of rear sight base marked "K.43 qve45". Gas cyl. has electropencil number that is mismatch. Phosphate finish. Laminated stock & handguard. Stock number is faint & illegible along with other German markings. Recoil lug has St. Etienne "251" Waffenamt. Left side side sling provisions with repro tan sling. Replacement cleaning rod present. Right side of butt has carved "R" denoting post-war French border guard use. Both sides of butt have some added other indiscernible carvings. MAGS: 1-10 rd. marked "gcb" & "K43". CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework appearance with repaired crack behind action running into left side of wrist, a few long handguard cracks, a couple other smaller cracks, some chipping, scattered dings, handling marks & scratches. Metal is mostly a silvery-gray patina with scattered oxidation & traces of phosphate finish. Action is a bit sluggish but functional when hand cycled. Worn bore with scattered oxidation & pitting but evident rifling. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4617/MJC). CURIO. $2000-3000.
