P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 2658b. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. in 1945 at the Walther arsenal. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code "ac" and the 2-digit year of mfg. "45". Right side of slide exhibits a Walther Eagle/359 acceptance proof on either side of an eagle firing proof. Left side of bbl. is marked with an Eagle/WaA76, with an "fnh" code on the bottom of the bbl. block, indicating mfg. by Bohmische Waffenfabriken in Prague. Metal components exhibit a typical dull blue finish with some smaller components including the extractor, rear sight shoe, rear sight, slide lever, and trigger exhibiting a phosphate finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece black grooved Polymid 6 grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 2 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal finishes, exhibiting wear and thinning on the grip straps that show through to gray patina, with mild edge wear present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A nice example of a late war production Walther P.38 pistol. (23-6983/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
