RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 18938. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight without protective ears. Fixed aperture rear sight. "Last ditch" configuration Type 99 Arisaka rifle. All numbered parts are matching to the receiver, including the firing pin and safety. Receiver top has heavily ground mum. Left side of the receiver has 10th series marking, serial number, and Nagoya symbol. Blued rough late war finish. Hardwood Asian stock set with two piece butt, separate forend, left side sling swivels, and wooden buttplate. Bottom of stock has partially faded Kanji stamps. CONDITION: stock set shows a few abrasions, scattered dings, scratches, and handling marks. Metal retains 40% of its original blue with overall fading to gray, edge wear, and light oxidation. Action is stiff but functional when hand-cycled. Good bore that is bright for most of its length but shows a couple patches of pitting. (24-3889/MJC). CURIO. $250-350.
