Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 3756o. Bbl. 22". Blade front sight with protective hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1200m. Right side of the receiver has "K43" and "ac/45" markings. Serial number block appears to be an "O," which is far higher than known ac45 examples. Stamped matching numbers on bolt, receiver, and bolt carrier. Matching electropencil numbers on both locking lugs. Firing pin housing is caked in grease, and we are unable to remove it from the bolt. Blued & phosphate finishes. Unnumbered laminated stock set with very faint Waffenamts and left side sling provisions. No cleaning rod is present. MAGS: one 10 rd., coded "aye." CONDITION: sanded stock set has an added oil finish with a 3" crack to the right of action, a couple light chips, scattered scratches, dings, and handling marks. Buttplate shows scattered notable oxidation and cleaned pitting. Balance of metal shows overall thinning and fading to gray with scattered oxidation staining on the exposed edges. Bolt will not stay locked back even when safety is engaged. Action otherwise appears functional when hand-cycled. Bore shows scattered oxidation and dried grease but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4616/MJC). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
