RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 50442A. Bbl. 24". Model 54 Super Grade bolt action rifle mfg. by Winchester circa. 1941 as part of parts clean up. Left side of the bbl. is marked "WINCHESTER/ PROOF STEEL", followed by "MODEL 54", the Winchester trademark logo, and "30 GOV'T '06", with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Underside of bbl. is marked with an upside down "CMS." (Chome-Molybdenum Steel), followed by "1906" and "1935" (bbl. mfg. year). Left side of the receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, with the S# marked on the right side of the chamber. Floorplate / trigger guard is marked "-SUPER GRADE-". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body and follower, which are polished in-the-white. Wood pistol grip stock features a black forearm tip, wrap around checkered paneling on the forearm and pistol grip, a checkered black hard rubber grip cap (with floral engraved screw head), right handed cheek piece, Super Grade sling swivel bases, as well as a black synthetic spacer and Winchester solid red rubber recoil pad. Ramped brass beaded blade front sight, with slot blank in rear sight dovetail, and receiver mounted Redfield adj. aperture rear sight. Top of receiver features a grooved matte band, and is factory drilled and tapped with 2 plug screws. Bolt matches the receiver via an electro-penciled "50442" on the underside of the body. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light edge wear, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Left side of bbl. exhibits a series of scratches (some notable scratches also present on trigger guard bow) beneath the front sight ramp and at the muzzle area. Trigger guard / floorplate exhibit some oxidative finish loss, as well as patches of light surface oxidation and pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting a few scattered spots of light to mild pitting, as well as a patch of light pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, as well as some spots of finish loss on the butt, but otherwise remain sound. (25-1420/MLW).
