This Shin-Gunto katana was likely produced in late 1944 and has an overall measurement of 39 1/2' and a blade length of 27". The blade has a straight hamon and a gilded brass habaki. The iron tsuba is round and undecorated and has a single seppa above and below. The nakago has two mekugi-ana and a 6 character signature on one side and a 2 character signature on the other. There are also red painted characters on the nakago. The tsuka has matching iron fuchi and kabuto-gane with iron 3 cherry blossom menuki. The tsuka has white same and brown tsuka-ito. Green/brown painted saya with iron mounts. CONDITION: blade is solid but needs a polish. There are a few minor edge nicks near the tip. Tsuba, tsuka and saya all show light wear.
