Cal. 7.62 NATO. S# S-02674. Bbl. 18". An exceptional example of the original Spanish CETME Sport rifle as manufactured exclusively for MARS Equipment Corp in Chicago, IL. The Cetme Model C / Sporter was designed by Ludwig Vorgrimler, & utilized the same roller delayed blowback mechanism as what would eventually become the German G3 / HK91 / 93 / MP5 family of firearms. A total of 1254 CETME Sporter rifles were imported into the USA between 1966 & 1971. The quality of these rare examples is outstanding & should not be confused w/ the multitude of much more recent US built examples. Matte black finish on all exterior metal surfaces. 4 position rear peep sight. Hooded post front sight. These early models intended for export to the USA had weaver style scope mounts integral to the upper receiver, to appeal to the US market, while the original Spanish military models did not. Hardwood shoulder stock w/ rubber butt pad & matching wood forend. Left side, non-reciprocating charging handle. Left side safety / selector. Push button mag release. Right side of receiver, on mag-well stamped "MADE IN SPAIN Exclusively for MARS Equipment Corp. / Chicago 45. Illinois, U.S.A." & highlighted in white. Left side of receiver, on mag-well stamped "CETME " Sport" w/ serial number. Left side green canvas sling. MAGS: (2 total) 1 steel 5 rd. & 1 steel 20 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cardboard factory shipping box, new bipod, new canvas gun sleeve & owners manual. CONDITION: This is the finest CETME Sport this cataloger has yet to encounter. All aspects indicate very little, if any use. It arrived in the original box w/ accessories, still in plastic. The finish is complete & consistent w/ only the gentlest thinning in a few areas of mechanical intervention. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (24-760/JZ). CURIO. $6,500-9,500.
