STOCK & BAYONET. Cal. 223 Rem. S# FN034310. Bbl. 16.5". A very clean original Belgium manufactured Fabrique Nationale rifle. The FNC, a scaled down & refined variant of the famous FN FAL was imported into the United States until 1987 and remains a rare & desirable rifle to this day. It utilizes a 2 position gas system w/ an integral grenade launcher front sight which functions as a gas shutoff valve when deployed. The gas system is adjusted to send more pressure rearward if the gun should become fouled by rotating the gas tube 90 degrees clockwise. This particular piece was imported by Gun South Inc, from Trussville, AL. The left side safety / selector is marked "S" (safe) / "1" (semi). Matte black finish on all exterior surfaces. Protected post front sight w/ dual aperture rear sight. Right side folding shoulder stock. Ingenious spring loaded dust cover on right side remains under constant pressure, momentarily lifting during the firing cycle, to immediately be closed again upon firing. Utilizes standard AR-15 magazines. Left side of upper receiver marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL / FNC 223 MADE IN BELGIUM / GUN SOUTH, INC. TRUSSVILLE, AL. / CAL. 5.56MM (223) / HOWCO DIST. INC. / LAUREL, MD. USA". Serial number located on lower receiver, forward of shoulder stock. Currently sporting green canvas sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Bayonet w/ scabbard & owners manual. CONDITION: All aspects indicate this gun is still as new in box. Exterior finish remains complete & consistent. Very few marks indicating use or handling, even in areas of mechanical intervention. Black plastic forend, pistol grip & shoulder stock are in equally nice condition. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: Lifelong Collection of Terrance McCarty. (24-545/JZ). MODERN. $2,500-4,000.
