Cal. 22 LR. S# B001431.Bbl. 2". This is an extremely unique example of firearms' ingenuity that hit the market in the 1990s. The vast majority of firearms that share similarities to the Braverman Pen Gun are classified by the BATF as an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and are highly regulated through the NFRTR. Firearms that fall under the purview of the NFA (National Firearms Act) are commonly referred to as Class III and require extensive paperwork, background checks, and federal transfer fees. Pen guns are a prime example of an AOW, which is a firearm that doesn't resemble a traditional gun and includes examples such as cane guns, single-shot flashlights, and knife guns. The paperwork that must be submitted and approved for an AOW prior to transfer is exactly the same as that used for purchasing machine guns, destructive devices, and sound suppressors and can take upwards of a year before the buyer can take possession. The ingenuity of the Braverman design allows the purchaser to proceed exactly like any traditional firearm, with no taxes or federal registration necessary; thus, they are extremely desirable. Because the Braverman must be positioned with the bbl. at an 80-degree angle from the body of it, it is no longer considered an AOW but just a standard pistol. Full stainless steel construction with a knurled barrel ring. It incorporates a swiveling safety and pocket clip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original nylon carry case and owner's manual. CONDITION: as with the vast majority of these, they typically see very little use in spending their time as display pieces. Bright bore with strong rifling. PROVENANCE: the lifelong collection of Terrance McCarty. (24-110/JZ). MODERN. $800-1,200.
