Cal. 7.65X25mm Borchardt. S# 625. Bbl. 7 1/2" (190mm) with banded front sight base having single pin retaining fin shaped blade. Mfg. prior to 1897 when Loewe went out of business and was replaced by DWM. Serial numbers for Loewe were 1-1104 then 1105 to 3000 for DWM; production ceased in 1902. Per Sturgess' book, this is a series IVa. Model C93 is the first mass produced semi-auto pistol. Its cartridge is dimensionally identical to the later 30 Mauser derived from it, but with less powerful charge. Proofed with crowns B and U on left front of receiver, front toggle plus on breech block. Large script LOEWE markings over chamber; Borchardt marking on right of receiver. Top of toggles has patent info. Appears all numbers matching (except magazine) to include: trigger cover plate, trigger, safety, frame on edge of mag. well, barrel, receiver, stock lug on mainspring housing, rear sight blade, mag. release, both toggles and both border checkered walnut grips. Firing pin with script "W" or "M". MAGS: 1 good plated 8 rd. with brown stained body having wood base (light marks) numbered 948. Light impact marks at top by feed lips and at bottom rear behind knobs. CONDITION: good overall appearance with peppery oxidation plus high point and function wear. Grip area has patina tone. Hand wear on grips plus some aged impact marks on right. Fair bore with wear, slight darkness and even pitting. (01-22065/NW). ANTIQUE. $12,000-15,000.
