ASSORTED FLARES. Lot of 2 American & British flare pistols with assorted flares, including: 1) U.S. flare Model 3 37mm flare pistol mfg. by Columbia Appliance Corp. Left side of the cast brass frame is marked "COLUMBIA/ APPL. CORP./ L.I.C. N.Y. U.S.A.", with "MOD-3" marked on the right. Sides of the grip frame are marked with a "C", with the left side marked with the apparent S# "PT 31418". Brass frame and steel bbl. exhibit a textured dark gray finish. CONDITION: good, with metal components retain large amounts of their textured gray finish, exhibiting scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of flaking and wear. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of oxidation and retaining a layer of grease throughout. Proper manual mechanics. 2) British Webley & Scott No. I Mk V 25mm flare pistol. Left side of the frame and bbl. exhibit assorted British proof marks. Steel construction, with a black enamel type finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved black synthetic grips. Base of grip frame is fitted with a retracting lanyard ring. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their period arsenal black enamel finish, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of wear and flaking, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, while retaining a layer of grease throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. 3) x1 box of 12 37mm projected parachute red flares. Side of flares are marked "P52/ PISTOL PROJECTED PARACHUTE RED FLARE/ DISTRESS SIGNAL/ 20,000 CANDELA 30 SECONDS BURNING TIME/ USE ONLY WHEN AIRCRAFT OR VESSEL IS SIGHTED/ FOR USE WITH KILGORE P52 PISTOL/ DANGER - EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE - KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN/ M.F.G. DATE 03/87 EXP. 09/90 LOT NO. 275/ U.S.C.G. APPROVAL NO. 160.024/2/3 FOR MERCHANT VESSELS/ MANUFACTURED BY KILGORE CORP. TOONE TN./ DIRECTIONS - FIRE UPWARD FROM SIGNAL PISTOL". Flares are housed within an original Kilgore Corp. cardboard box. CONDITION: flares are good, with one exhibiting an indentation on the side of the tube. Box shows general overall wear, water damage, and a tear along the top and right edges from opening. 4) x2 6-rd. boxes (12-rds. total) of Olin 25mm red meteor flares (housed in Kilgore Corp. boxes). Sides of flares are marked "25mm RED METEOR/ BURN TIME 8 SECONDS/ U.S.C.G. No. 160.066/9/0/ MARINE USE ONLY/ EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE/ KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN/ OLIN CORP. EAST ALTON, ILL." above the mfg. date "24/ AUG. 90" (Lot no. and expiration date are unmarked). CONDITION: flares are good, showing some light superficial marks from handling and storage.
