1) Werndl 1867 Rifle. NSN. Bbl. 33". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1400 Schritt. Lock has 1868 date. Rear of bbl. marked "st69". Receiver marked "WERNDL". Tang of buttplate has "29.R.E.B./1.158" unit marking. Arsenal blued finish. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Ramrod present that maybe replaced. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: M1870 sword bayonet with bayonet. CONDITION: stock set has added finish with a notable gouge on left side of action, a few small chips, scattered dings, handling marks & scratches. Bbl. retains strong arsenal blue with scattered oxidation, handling marks & edge wear. Balance of other parts are a gray patina with edge wear, oxidation & dings. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good bore with some light pitting. (01-28393/MJC).
2) Werndl 1867 Rifle. NSN. Bbl. 33". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1400 Schritt. Lock has 1871 date. Top of action marked "WERNDL". Tang of buttplate has " 57. LSTB/771/" unit marking. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling hardware. Ramrod present that appears to be a later replacement. CONDITION: stock appears to have an old light sanding with some small cracks around cock, scattered dings, light chips & handling marks. Metal is a dull gray color possibly from faded old touch up with a few spots of light pitting, scattered oxidation, traces of bluing & handling marks. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Poor bore with several large patches of oxidation & pitting. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28394/MJC). BOTH ANTIQUE. $800-1,200 for pair.
