SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOLS. Cal. 38 Rimless. S# 16409. Bbl. 4 1/2". Model 1903 Pocket Hammer semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Colt during the first year of production (1903). Left side of the slide is marked with Colt's patent and mfg. information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo, with "AUTOMATIC COLT/ CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" marked on the right. Bbl. exhibits a blue finish overall, save for on the muzzle and chamber areas of the bbl., which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered brown hard rubber grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Slide is unnumbered. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting overall, with some spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. retains the majority of its original factory blue finish in protected areas, with in-the-white areas having faded to a gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting a consistent scattering of mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show light to mild smoothing, as well as some scattered handling marks, with the right grip exhibiting a crack that runs through the bottom screw slot and along the underside of the panel. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation present overall. Hammer retains fair amounts of its original case colored finish. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing and scattered marks from handling and storage, with the left grip exhibiting a crack on the left side of the panel along the upper left edge. (25-5424/MLW).
