OFFICER'S PICKELHAUBE. Lot of 2 Imperial German M16 stahlhelm and Prussian pickelhaube, including: 1) German WWI M16 stahlhelm mfg. by Bell. Helmet exhibits a green painted exterior, with a contemporary chin strap and bales. Interior is marked with the Bell logo, followed by "L64" at the right side of the flare. CONDITION: helmet exhibits scattered marks and spots of chipping, with some light oxidation present in areas of exposed metal. 2) Prussian Officer's pickelhaube. Black leather construction with brass fittings consisting of the visor rim, eagle front plate, round spitze base, spitze, and scaled chin strap. Picklehaube features a brown leather sweat band that appears to be marked "Lt. Lange 7/L74", handwritten black ink. CONDITION: pickelhaube remains sound, exhibiting splitting to the exterior layer, with creasing present on the visor. Brass furniture has acquired a pleasing mellow patina. Liner shows some wear and areas of discoloration, with some crazing present along edges. Chin strap remains intact. (02-26184/MLW). NON-GUN. $200-400.
