RIFLES. 1) REMINGTON NO. 4 TAKEDOWN ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE. Cal. 22 RF. NSN. Bbl. 22 5/8". No. 4 takedown rolling block rifle mfg. by Remington. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Remington's mfg. information. Plain wood straight grip stock and forend. Sides of buttstock have been carved. Custom period made blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. Upper receiver tang exhibits a brass repair. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a dark gray patina, with pitting and oxidation present overall. Poor bore, exhibiting pitting, while retaining trace rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a crack on the left side of the wrist, that stems from the receiver tang. (24-5081/MLW). 2) REMINGTON NO. 4 TAKEDOWN ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE. Cal. 22 RF. S# J205226. Bbl. 22 5/8". No. 4 takedown falling block rifle mfg. by Remington. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Remington's single line address. Bbl. exhibits a blue finish. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend have been sanded and revarnished, with the left side of the buttstock exhibiting a faintly carved "PM". Blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: frame exhibits a mottled gray patina, with areas of age related discoloration. Bbl. retains large amounts of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting edge wear, with varying degrees of oxidation overall. Breechblock lever tip is chipped. Fair bore, exhibiting scattered pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks, impressions, and a few gouges from handling and storage, with drying, finish loss, and a crack present at the toe of the buttstock. (24-5091/MLW).
